Smart String Lights Manufacturers Race to Innovate as Market Surges Past $2 Billion
As the global smart lighting market continues its rapid expansion, manufacturers of smart string lights are locked in an intense race to deliver ever-more-sophisticated products. With the broader holiday string lights market valued at $2.1 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $3.4 billion by 2034, the smart segment is emerging as the industry’s fastest-growing frontier.
Govee Leads with Single-Bulb Customization
Shenzhen-based Govee, founded in 2017 by former Anker CTO Wu Wenlong, has emerged as a dominant force in the smart lighting space. The company reported 2025 revenue of approximately $650 million (47.05 billion RMB), with smart ambient lighting accounting for $575 million (41.62 billion RMB). According to Frost & Sullivan, Govee captured 15.8% of the North American smart ambient lighting market in 2025, ranking first, with a 9.4% global market share—second only to Signify (Philips Hue).
In March 2026, Govee launched its Outdoor Chromatic String Lights, featuring what the company calls the industry’s first Single-Light Rainbow System. Each bulb integrates 55 RGB LEDs with independent Uni-IC control, enabling true multi-color gradients and dynamic transitions within a single bulb. The IP67-rated lights are designed for permanent outdoor installation with a lifespan exceeding 10 years. A 10-meter set retails for $169.99, while the 20-meter version costs $299.99.
In April 2026, Govee introduced its first solar-powered smart string lights, featuring proprietary LuminBlend™ technology capable of 281 trillion color possibilities. CEO Eric Wu stated the company aims to push solar lighting “beyond basic illumination”.

Established Players Expand Their Offerings
Philips Hue continues to dominate the premium segment with its Festavia line. The Festavia Globe Outdoor String Lights, available in 7-meter (£139.99) and 14-meter (£249.99) kits, prioritize design and seamless ecosystem integration. The collection now includes curtain, icicle, and net string lights, with the icicle lights capable of recreating “enchanting scenes” with dynamic effects.
Nanoleaf has positioned itself as a Matter-compatible leader. Its Smart Holiday String Lights feature 300 individually controllable LEDs across 24 meters of cable. The company’s Matter Smart String Lights (250 LEDs, 20 meters) offer IP44-rated indoor/outdoor use and support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Matter over Wi-Fi. Nanoleaf’s Outdoor String Lights are Thread-enabled and Matter-compatible, designed for year-round installation.
Twinkly has advanced its offering with HD Strings, featuring higher LED density for “brighter, smoother and even more immersive lighting effects”. The Twinkly Strings 600 LED RGB delivers customizable, app-controlled lighting with music synchronization and voice assistant compatibility.
The ODM/ODM Ecosystem
Beyond branded players, a robust manufacturing ecosystem supports the industry. Yunjin Light, based in Yuyao, China, manufactures smart string lights and pathlights with app and voice control, compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The company offers complete solutions including custom app development. Zhongzi International Holdings (formerly Bortex Global) lists smart string lights among its comprehensive LED decorative lighting portfolio. Guangdong Silver Age Sci & Tech Co. produces consumer smart light strips, lamps, and holiday light strings. Numerous OEM/ODM manufacturers, including Guangdong Chuangpu Technology and Yiwu Galaxy Lights, provide custom branding and design services for global clients.
Market Outlook
Industry analysts project Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled string lights will account for 15–20% of unit sales by 2028. In the European Union, the premium smart segment is expected to outpace overall market growth, rising from under 10% in 2026. With LED penetration exceeding 75% in Asia and 80–85% in Europe, the smart string lights manufacturing sector shows no signs of dimming.
